On April 4, 2025, Gov. Brad Little signed House Bill 134, which adds to existing Title 39 that previously established provisions regarding breast cancer screening. This new law is aimed at supporting those considered at high risk for breast cancer due to personal or family history, genetic predisposition, or other factors and requires applicable health insurance plans to provide additional preventive breast cancer screenings at no cost to members (deductible, copayment, or coinsurance) for any in-network services. Additional costs may be applied to services from out-of-network providers or for imaging services that are in excess of the minimum required coverage. Idaho health insurance companies are required to update their plan documents and notify covered members prior to the January 1, 2026, effective date.
